The mowing has been done and diner is on

The old days of pot roasts were generally always successful, so tonight I decided on a pot roast foe a piece of topside steak.  It has been on for an hour and the smell is beautiful, so by the time it is cooked the taste buds will be well atunned to the smell.
U3A cooking club for july was very successfful.  Helen & I cooked dinner for 11 people and it worked out at $6.50 a head for a two course diner.  Helen cooked her famous Sticky Date pudding with butterscotch sauce and I cooked lamb cutlets with garlic and grainy musted.  Cooking in a gas oven that we had never used before turned out OK, it was a matter of inspecting every now and then.  You can see the outcome and the recipies at this site

For smoko we took along a gluten free chocolate cake so easy to make and with various additions it makes a good morning cake with tea and coffee.
